Bergen city guide

Bergen, an amazing trip !

The picturesque Norwegian coastal city of Bergen is dotted with quaint wooden houses and set against a backdrop of steep mountains and deep fjords. Step into the saga of Bergen, a city of smiling townsfolk and natural wonders.

When you are there

Once you reach Bergen by train, you just must discover the Hanseatic quarter of Bergen: Bryggen. Stroll along its charming wooden houses and visit the Bryggen Museum housing medieval vestiges or the Hanseatic Museum revealing the shopkeepers life in the 18th century.

Don’t miss the Royal residence, the "Håkon’s Hall" from the 13 century, next to the "Rosenkrantz Tower" commemorating the Hanseatic’s merchants power. Take the funicular to the Fløien Mont (320 meters high) and appreciate a splendid view onto the town, mountains, fjords and see.

Then, head for the famous fish Market to feel the local atmosphere. You can also discover the Edvard Grieg Museum, dedicated to the most famous composer of Norway who spent 22 years in Bergen composing most of his works.
