Italian trains: Frecciarossa network

The high-speed train service in Italy is called the Frecciarossa (Red Arrow). Your journey between Italy’s main cities, and from Northern Torino up to Salerno on the Amalfi Coast is quick -it travels at 360km/h (225mph)- comfortable and safe.

Milan and Rome are connected by 51 trains a day, of which 19 are the AV Fast train, which makes no intermediate stops and takes just 3 hrs 30 mins from the Cathedral to the Colosseum, directly into the heart of the cities of Italy.

     Maryan g.  06/05/2013
Just a good train trip. Had first class tickets and got on a carriage that had first class on the outside but once in we found that the carriage was now 2nd class - however, we didn't change as we were comfortable as it was and in a good spot to watch our luggage. As it turns out a large and noisy school group went into the first class carriage at the next station so we were glad not to be in there    Value for money  Convenience

      .  02/05/2013
The train service was very good, and the staff at the stations were very helpful given I did not speak Italian. But there are not any baggage carts/trolleys at Italian Trains stations and the people acting/servicing as unofficial porter charge outrageous amounts.    Value for money  Convenience

    "Rome to Munich"

I was quite concerned when I first purchased the tickets that I would not receive them before we left Aus as we only decided quite late to do the train thing, but was prepared to take the chance, 3 days later the tickets arrived express post. I booked online on Thu tickets arrived Mon, excellent. The high speed train experience was awesome, clean comfortable more like an airline would def book again. Only prob was the train ran behind time and only for good luck, just made our connection at Bologna Centrale for the journey to Munchen HBF    Comfort  Value for money  Convenience

    "A bit late but fine"

     Elizabeth r.  26/03/2013
The train was fine, but looking at how much it should have cost if I'd bought it from the train company it was overpriced, the toilet was broken on one end of the carriage and had no paper in the other, and somehow lost time in the last few stops so instead to having 15min to get from this to my connecting train I ran and only just made it onto my next train as the doors closed behind me. So it wasn't ideal.    Comfort  Value for money  Convenience

    "Italy trains problem"

The trains in Italy are ALWAYS LATE AND DELAYED! You will have to provide more time between trains!    Comfort  Value for money

    "No trip"

     Beverley h.  06/03/2013
I was connecting to this service from the train from Wien Meidling. However because the Wien Meidling to Firenze train was so far behind schedule I did not arrive in time for my booked trip to Roma Termini. A rail officer on the platform in Firenze told me to stay on the same train to Termini. Therefore I cannot comment on the high speed train service.    Comfort  Value for money  Convenience
